April Showers...

This pretty much sums it up.
Started once again yesterday, and we're slated from 10" to 2 feet, snowing through Sunday.
I seriously need some sunshine soon, and warmth.
I am in a perpetual shiver.

It has been super hard to eat a few salads when I just want thick, creamy hot soups and stews filled with cheese, cream and bread on the side or potatoes or fried spicy things. My veggie intake has not been stellar, and I have been trying to get salad in more often.

But, I did just eat a salad with my chicken.
I also just made another cup of steaming coffee, as I sit here.
I am supposed to be doing my work, but I am worked out, lol.
I am so glad that it's Friday, and *crossing my fingers* I won't have to work through the weekend too. See, it is super lucky to be able to work from home, but they always know where to find me. And they love to pile it on me because, you know, they seem to think I have nothing better to do, lol.
Or they just figure, "Hey, she's snowed in. Let's send it all to her and all the in office peeps can enjoy themselves!"
No, I know that's not it at all. I'm just pooped.
And frozen, lol.

Anyway, before the snows came in, I was doing great this week. I was even down 2 pounds.
I'm not saying that I'm doing badly now. I've just slowed down a bit. In all honesty, I hate working out at home. I'm one of those people that is motivated by the actual gym environment.

Yep, I'm all full of excuses, aren't I?

But this guy is always here to keep me company.

So my days are really not bad. How could they be with this all over me all of the time?

Followup because this is too funny!

It's begun again.
With a little gusto!

Spring, please sprung already

It's sometimes hard to be motivated or to physically get to the gym, or anywhere, when this happens.

This was April 18th.
Three and a half feet of snow, deeper in some spots.
All I know was the dogs looked at me like I was crazy when I would open the door.
So being the good doggy mommy that I am, I trudged and shoveled waist high snow to make a path and large circle in the yard for them to go out in.
Now granted, two days later our roads were clear and this was melting down.
Then, another six inches fell.

Like today, I came home from the gym this morning, and it was almost 60 degrees!
Now, we're at 40 three hours later, and it's raining with a little sleet for good measure.
Even when we hit the 60's, I am freezing all of the time.

This past weekend the weather was nice enough for us to rake and bag pine needles, begin cutting back the trash bushes that pop up all over, and I was even able to plant a few flower bulbs that don't kick it up here.
We even got to grill on our deck. Yep, that one up there where the patio furniture is buried.
These are the weekends that I am so looking forward to, hopefully soon.
Of course, we should be used to this, lol.

I have some recipes pinned that I cannot wait to try out, tweak and hopefully share with you too.
I have a new selection of fantastic leggings to snap photos of.

And if you're interested, I have some news tomorrow on my Candy and Kink Blog
It's something simple, but I was excited to find this out and be included.

This woman, Cory Everson, started it all for me. I remember seeing her on ESPN at the Olympia in the mid 80's. I had never seen anything like her, and I loved it. I began watching her workout shows. I would try to do them, tried to use my dad's weight machines. In high school in P.E., I got to use the girls' weight room instead of playing basketball ball. Of course, I was clueless on what I should be doing or about any sort of nutrition.
I grew up in Louisiana: fried food, boiled food, lots of starches.
I know 90% of our vegetables were from a can.
Sure, my parents grew some veggies, but I had no clue what to eat to lose fat and gain muscle.
At that time, eating less was the big thing, and any diet information was based on the popular skinny model types.
But I always dreamed about being like her. It took me until my late 30's to take the leap, hire knowledgeable people, and educate myself. Do I look like her? Lol, no, but I am still trying. I may be 80 and still trying, but I will always remember this woman sparked the desire in me.
I have many inspirational woman in my life today, and I am going to start sharing them with you.
