Pasty, pasty white

You would never guess that I'm mainly Itailian and French?
I mean, where did the gene for a darker complexion go in my family?
I guess that one got skipped, but I was lucky enough to get the junk in the trunk gene?
Maybe this is why I can never seem to see the changes in my body.
By the way, this is after months of that Jergens Glow lotion too.
I'm Casper, really.

Someone posted this on facebook this morning, and I got a kick out of it.

I liked this photo comparison of the different categories, but if Fitness wasn't left out again.  Booooo.

Oh, and joy!  One of the gymnastics places got back in touch with me.  I'm going to go try out their 1x a week adult gymnastics group class.
It sounds like what I'm looking for.
Plus, the girl that I've emailed with trains two of the Fitness Pro's.
How awesome would that be?
They take private lessons, but it's still cool.
From what I saw this group class is $10 a class.
I can't believe it.  I will be so stoked if I can learn just one or two new moves to incorporate into routines.

It's so discouraging when you try to contact several places/people (via email, their website, facebook, all of them) concerning gymnastics/tumbling/etc. and you never receive any sort of reply. Maybe I'm a little down in the dumps because of this gloomy snowy/blizzard day. I was so inspired and motivated, but never getting replies from this week makes me blue. =( I guess that I'll continue with YouTube tutorials and learning on my own some more this year. Maybe it's just a sign. Don't know. Poop.

But here's the thing....
For the past few weeks, I've been having dreams of competing at the Arnold Amateur for Fitness........ then the Olympia.

Friday, Friday, Friday

Without giving too much info, I woke up not feeling great.
Let's leave it at stomach issues, blah.

So, I'm being super lazy and catching up on blogs.
 I was reading BonzaiAphrodite

She posted this song by Amanda Palmer.
I'm kind of in love with it right now.

So, I'm going to spend today being lazy.
If I feel better later, I will try to do a few shoulder exercises with my faithful home dumbbells.

I know that I can count on this furry butt to cuddle with me and keep me company today.

I'm frugal

How frugal am I? I sat and restitched the grips back on my lifting gloves, lol.
I did apply for four different part-time jobs. Luckily, as well, I've had some contract drafting work the past three weeks. It's all going into the "competition" jar.

I've also been working on some of my routine tricks, watching the YouTube to try and teach myself some others. I say all of this loosely, as much of my time is spent collapsing on my booty or face, hahaha. I would really love to learn a few contortionist moves, but it hurts just watching!  Hey, I'm trying as I can't afford to take any sort of actual tumbling classes right now = more frugal stuff.

I'm enamored with Kizzy Vaines' routine from the Olympia last year.

I didn't go to the gym this morning as I hate the roads, rather the other folks driving, when we have had a decent amount of snow. So, I picked up my dumbbells and did a quick bicep and tricep workout at home between some drafting and housework.

Alternating DB Bicep Curl (per side) 10/15#, 10/15#, 10/15# DB Hammer Curl 10/(2)15#, 10/(2)15#, 10/(2)15# DB Inner Bi Curl 10/(2)15#, 8/(2)15#, 10/(2)15# X Body DB Hammer Curl(Per side) 10/15#, 10/15#, 10/15# Bent DB Tri Kickback 10/(2)15#, 10/(2)15#, 10/(2)15# Tricep Dips (used coffee table) 10/10/10

I have been reading different books on nutrition. I have all sorts of sources from main stream to college texts. I think it's all awfully confusing, lol. Still, I research because I find it fascinating.  However, I still have no clue if I'll ever understand it all.

I am horrible with self-pics. I was trying to take a pic of my back this morning after my back workout because, well, I never see it! I cannot tell if I'm making any progress or not. I think that I am, but I'll have to remember to try and take more pics later and compare. Plus, I have my nice little winter layer still on me.

I really, really want to compete again. Stupid being so expensive you fitness category. And I just cannot bring myself to be one of those folks who start a campaign or web page for "donations" to compete. I figure that it's really a luxury for me, and I shouldn't rely on or ask others to support a luxury. Maybe I'm stupid for not wanting to take advantage of people?

Anyway, today was my back day.

I discovered the row machine for the first time for cardio.
I think that I loved it because it was kind of fun.

Happy Hug Day!

Today is turning out to be an exceptionally awesome day! I don't know if it's because it's a holiday or what? I mean, yeah, I loved my surprises from my hubs (new gym bag was my fav), but the day is just getting better.
It was super smiling, dole out the compliment day at the gym ~~~ to me.
 I loved it.
Hooray for awesome days! & Awesome people!  Or perhaps after two years, all the muscle-y dudes are getting used to seeing me there working it.
Here's me after my Training Happy Workout.

I'm in excellent spirits despite still having my "winter warmth" layer.

Crafty ~ working on the motto

So, I showed you the sketch earlier.

I'm playing with embroidering it.

Well, hello there

Long time no post
I've been slacking on blogging.
However, I haven't been slacking at the gym.
We are actually getting an Armbrust Pro Gym about 2.5 miles from my house.
How sweet is that?
I am so a people watcher.
Do you see the people that train at the one in Wheat Ridge?
Phil Heath, Sarah Hurrle, Alina Poppa, and the list goes on!
I am so excited.
How excited?
Check this out.  I was able to get in on their pre-sale memberships.
Yeah, $19 a month for life!
I cannot wait for the grand opening party on March 9th.
They said that they were going to have over 20 pro's in attendance.
~Snoopy Dance~

I never thought in my life that I would have two gym memberships at one time, plus another that I see my coach at.  Does this make me a real athlete?  Okay, maybe that's a stretch, but I do feel more athletic than ever.
Plus, these first two days of the week I have have received compliments at the gym.
Yesterday, my day was made by a Silver Fox at the gym. =) He flagged me down (yelled, "Yo! Yo! You!") while I was walking to stretch. He then proceeded to tell me, "You work harder than any guy in here. What you do is hard, and you're doing great. Keep it up." I told him how much I appreciated hearing that - even if parts are probably not completely accurate, but I try, lol.
Today, a foxy, young Latino told me how good we (my workout buddy and I) were doing and he noticed how hard we work.
I will not lie, it inflates my teeny ego and makes me want to work harder.
So maybe I don't notice some of my changes, but I guess others do which is nice.

Actually, I've had a ton on my brain about making things positive.
I can face it, I'm not a person who is bad-ass and angry at the gym.
I am focused, but I smile.  I giggle at the silly songs I put on my ipod.  I try to dole out compliments to the other ladies I see, especially those who train "angry" with killer bods.
It got me thinking.  I came up with my new motto:
It's light, most of my sketches are to begin with, but it says "train happy!"
I'm embroidering it on a tank, and adding two !! so the barbell under will look like a smiley face, heh.
I mean, I'm happy that I get to train, love to train, and am capable.
And for poops and giggles, a pic I shot while I was in the Tarjay dressing room this morning.  It's fuzzy, but oh well.  I'm still trying to see changes.  I have faith that one day I will see what I'm looking for.
